András graduated in 1978 from the Department of Public Building Design at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. He spent the first decade of his career in one of the best architectural teams of BUVÁTI, one of Budapest’s leading design offices. It was here that he gained a solid foundation for architectural design work, and where his belief in architecture and collaborative work was strengthened; it was also here that his first designs were realised. His design approach, which respects tradition while using contemporary elements and remains relevant to this day, was inspired by Scandinavian — primarily Danish — architecture, where he took part in an extended study trip and also worked in the first half of the 1980s.

In 1991, he became a co-founder of Vikár and Lukács Architectural Studio, which has been present on the Hungarian design market for more than 30 years and has become a recognised and respected participant in it. The more than 500,000 square metres of realised buildings clearly reflects a consistent commitment to architectural quality and innovation. His professional work has been recognised with numerous awards, including the prestigious Ybl Miklós Prize and several Pro Architectura Awards. Among his most notable buildings are the Arena Corner office building, the Microsoft building in Graphisoft Park, the Headquarters of the Hungarian Automobile Club, the H2 Hotel, and the Museum of Modern Art in Balatonfüred.

For decades, András has remained committed to giving back to the architectural community, teaching at his alma mater as a guest lecturer and mentoring new generations of architects. More recently, he has become a patron of the department, also serving as chair of the diploma committee. His involvement in the profession extends to active participation in local, regional, and national architectural design councils, where he plays a key role in advancingthe standards of Hungary’s built environment.
