ANDRÁS VIKÁR DLA

Owner, Managing Director  (b.1953, Budapest)

András earned his degree in 1978 from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, specializing in public building design. He spent the first decade of his career at BUVÁTI, one of Budapest’s most respected design firms, where he developed a solid foundation in architectural practice and strengthened his belief in the transformative power of architecture and collaboration. His design approach, which honors tradition while embracing contemporary elements, is influenced by Scandinavian—particularly Danish—architectural principles, shaped by an extended study and work period in Denmark in the early 1980s.

In 1991, he co-founded the award-winning Vikár and Lukács Architectural Studio, which has established itself as a respected firm in Hungary’s architectural landscape for over 30 years. The firm’s portfolio, comprising over 500,000 square meters of completed projects, reflects a consistent commitment to architectural quality and innovation. His professional contributions have been recognized with numerous awards, including the prestigious Ybl Miklós Award and multiple Pro Architectura Awards. Notable projects include the Arena Corner Office Building, Graphisoft Park Microsoft Office, Hungarian Autoclub Headquarter, H2 Hotel, and the Balatonfüred Modern Art Museum.

For decades, András has remained committed to giving back to the architectural community, teaching at his alma mater as a guest lecturer and mentoring new generations of architects. More recently, he has become a patron of the department, also serving as chair of the diploma committee. His involvement in the profession extends to active participation in local, regional, and national architectural design councils, where he plays a key role in advancing the standards of Hungary’s built environment.
