NORMAFA PAVILONS
The design guide-line was for us to respect and ultimately not to change the natural values. The purpose of the radically simplified form of the pavilion was to ignore the archetype of any house. With their small dimensions, they can hide away like fireflies under the big trees. The pavilions are intentionally not connectable and cannot be appended. With building a pavilion beside the path, we can place milestones, resting places, look-out spots. When placing two we can form a square, with three we can even form a junction. The primary unit is 3x3x3m, this square-shaped frame structure is made of 25×25 cm oak beams, which are interlinked with hardwood extensions. The frame can be pieced together on site, exclusively with wood connections, without any steel elements. The facades of the functions that require lockup are wooden structures bound together between the grooves of the material. With functions involving guest facilitating and closable rain huts, the separation of the spaces are ensured with mobile glass walls. The furniture and technical supply are of high quality, with simple yet modern equipment. Our design was one of the two highlighted plans of the competition. The implementation is yet to come…
