During the development of Graphisoft Park, we were invited to take part in the selection of designers for almost every new requirement. The same happened with this small-scale project as well—an important building for the Park’s everyday operation. The site was an undeveloped plot located to the left of the Park’s entrance. The brief calledfor a single-storey restaurant that would be easily accessible for both external and internalpedestrian traffic, efficient to service, light in character, and quick to build from prefabricatedelements. Our key design goals were a transparent, well-functioning dining space with partially coveredoutdoor terraces; blurring the boundary between inside and outside to create a constant “always in the park” feeling; a likeable, friendly architectural expression; and a fast, cost-effective construction process.
The proposal was very well received; however, due to changing requirements and issuesrelated to the regulatory framework, the project has not (yet) been realized.
